Melanox hydroquinone 2% is available in two types, namely Melanox and Melanox Forte. Melanox contains the active ingredient hydroquinone 2%, while Melanox Forte contains 4% hydroquinone. Hydroquinone functions to block the formation of melanin, which is the pigment or natural dye that gives color to the skin.
This is often used to lighten areas of the skin due to dark spots, acne scars, sun damage (melasma), or skin darkening due to hormonal changes (chloasma).
For pregnant and lactating women Category C: Studies in experimental animals have shown an adverse effect on the fetus, but there have been no controlled studies in pregnant women.
